The November meeting of NETNPA was held at the Peerless Restaurant in Johnson City. Novo Nordisk sponsored the meeting. Dr. Foster, an internist from Knoxville, spoke on insulin therapy.

Wendy Vogel spoke about the responses she has received thus far regarding the webcast aired on
October 6th. She stated that the responses were mostly positive. Discussion was held regarding
the DNP momentum and how this will affect those in Tennessee.
Kathy Sharp thanked all the participants and attendees of the conference which
was very successful.

Kathy Sharp recently went to Washington to a legislative summit
as our representative. She reported that she was able to talk to 3 health policy liaisons from the
offices of Senator Alexander, Representative Jenkins, and Representative Lincoln. The topics
addressed were FECA (Federal Employees Compensation Act), which currently does not allow
NPs to sign work compensation evaluations; the current Appropriations bill, which has cut
geriatric funding and remained level for nursing education; and the Medicare situation, including
the Part D difficulties and NPs not being allowed to order Home Health.
All NPs encouraged to sign up to be providers for
DOT exams so that NPs can be recognized and represented in the limited number of providers
