Approval of Minutes

  • The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed

Treasurer’s Report

  • $13,368.34 as of August 21, 2008

New Business

  • NETNPA has been solicited by different companies to run advertisements, banners, job postings, etc on our website. There are no guidelines in the by-laws regarding this. Vicki Lewis suggested the Executive Committee meet and discuss this further before presenting it back to membership again.

Old Business

  • New board members to take positions next month:
    • Linda Quillen to replace Paula Countiss  as Treasurer
    • Caludia Corradino and Teresa Martin to co-chair VP position and replace Kay Bone. The VP nominations were voted and seconded for unanimous approval.
    • Much thanks to Paula and Kay for their years of excellent service.

Legislative News

  • Jennie Walls seeking personal and organizational contributions to TN-PAC as the balance is low. TNA contributes these funds to campaigners that deemed friendly to nursing and advocate for nurses. No specific candidate has been named. NETNPA budgets $1000 annually for contributions to TN-PAC and it has not yet been made this year. Paula Countiss wrote the check for $1000 to TN-PAC and gave it to Jennie. Personal contributions needed by mid-Sept.
  • TNA Membership encouraged as this is our collective voice for nursing and our advocates. Please join if not already a member.
  • Wendy Vogel, FNP and fellow NETNPA member confronted Congressman David Davis who did not support HR-1108 Tobacco Act (which passed even without his vote). Wendy is congratulated on her efforts regarding anti-tobacco advocacy.
