July 2008 Newsletter

The July meeting was held at Café Pacific in Johnson City, TN. Hank Ringley with Pfizer sponsored the meeting, and our speaker was Juan Francisco, MD, Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist at the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, VAMC. He presented “Assessment and Treatment of Dementia.”

Business Meeting

The regular meeting of the Northeast Tennessee Nurse Practitioners Association was called to order at 7:30 PM on July 19, 2008, at Café Pacific, in Johnson City by President Vickie Lewis.

Approval of Minutes

  • The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed

Treasurer’s Report

  • $12,804.34 as of June 19, 2008

New Business

  • N/A

Old Business

  • Nominating Committee has not received any nominations or volunteers for either the VP position or Treasurer.
  • After some discussion, Connie Robinette offered to co-chair a position with someone.
  • Linda Quillen volunteered to take the Treasurer position. A motion was made and seconded to accept her for the position.
  • Members and Non-members need to EMAIL the nominating committee with nominations or volunteers ASAP. We need to vote on a VP position at the August meeting:

  • Medicare Reimbursement bill vetoed by President Bush, Congress overrode; continue to monitor progress
